By Janessa Berlanga When I graduated from college, I didn’t do the responsible thing and get a job right away, nor did I have grad school lined up like some of peers had; instead, I simply packed up my dorm room and headed back home to Texas with my family. For the first time in my life, my future was completely open with no plans, no deadlines, no summer job, no school in the fall, no project to work on, and no friends to see (I had all but lost touch with my high school friends and my college friends were all spread throughout the States). Truth be told, it was crippling. The months that followed were some of the lowest and most empty times that I have ever endured. Here is a blog post that I wrote reflecting on that period, if you want more context.

By Claire FitzSimmonds Here’s a real throwback: Remember Mary and Wilson from 7th Heaven? And what about Seth and Summer? And yes, I KNOW, I hear you, Rachel and Ross. There are a lot of great couples to choose from, but for my top five, I went for some a little more off the beaten list. Jin and Sun – Lost
By Christie Gleason Sometimes, when you’re a pop culture-obsessed girl like me, you go to great lengths to meet celebrities. Whether they’re A-list or D-list, I am beyond thrilled to be able to say I’ve met someone famous. Now, please don’t think that I mean this in a creepy/stalker kind of way. It’s just that I love pop culture and for some reason, I tend to really invest some thought and time into the lives of famous people. I’d like to think that I’d be the kind of person a celebrity would meet and think, “That person isn’t crazy! In fact, I think she and I could be great friends”. I just love the hear the latest entertainment news and can’t help but stay up-to-date on what is happening in their lives. Yes, it can be embarrassing, like the fact that I know Britney Spear’s birthday (December 2nd) or that I can name Melanie Brown aka Mel B. aka Scary Spice’s birthplace (Leeds, England). Yeah, I hate myself.
By Claire FitzSimmonds When I first started watching Parks and Recreation, April was my favorite character and Leslie kind of annoyed me. Prone to panic, a lot overbearing, tunnel-visioned like nobody’s business. Now I hardly even remember feeling that way. After seven seasons, I am convinced the key to a successful life is being more like Leslie Knope.

By Shelby Meehleder of Forming Reality Guest Writer **Disclaimer: If you are not 100% caught up on Grey’s Anatomy, DO NOT READ THIS POST. SPOILERS AHEAD. “It’s a beautiful day to save lives.”
Those of you who know that phrase, that man, are grieving right now. You are heartbroken. You are confused. I am too. Ten years of my life I have spent watching Grey’s Anatomy. The show began when I was 12 years old…12. Too young to understand love, sure, but old enough to know loss, to know hurt, to know friendship strong enough to heal, and certainly, young enough to recognize a female protagonist who needed to be rescued from her own story. Grey’s followed me through heartbreak, through first loves and all of the other “coming-of-age” emotions. Grey’s peaked my interest in medicine so much that I contemplated becoming a doctor. During the most formative years of my life, Grey’s was there. And more importantly, I was there. By Elizabeth Purvis (L) and Featuring Kayla Moon (R) If you were not living under a rock in the 90's, you knew who the Backstreet Boys were. If you are like me and my cousin Kayla, fellow Girl-ish fashion contributor, you were mad excited at the news of Backstreet Boys having a world tour AND a documentary. Finally, we get to see our favorite band again!
Not so fast. I'm just going to put a disclaimer right here and say that if you have yet to see their movie, "Backstreet Boys: Show 'Em What You're Made Of", it's not what you're expecting. Luckily for you, I'm going to give you the best takeaways and reactions that Kayla and I had to this documentary. Somehow, she came out of the documentary still into Kevin, and weirdly, I was attracted to AJ. Here we go. By Elizabeth Purvis It's no secret that Jimmy Fallon has rejuvenated what some people would say was a fading Tonight Show. Fallon, known for his work on SNL, has not only created funny segments and sketches but brings a genuine lighthearted sense of humor to every sketch and interview. He is one of the only late-night show hosts, that I know of, who is able to make every interview and guest feel like they are completely comfortable and an old friend. Here is my list of the ten best sketches on The Tonight Show.
By Jesse Powell I wanted to take a different approach with this book review. I love book reviews, but sometimes writing them can be, well, a pain in my ass because I get to the end of the book and I don’t remember the juicy tidbits I wanted to write the most about. Oh sure, I could write them down or underline them. I started doing that once. Then I was reading books three times slower than usual. That got really boring, really quickly.
This time around I’m reading Dr. Sleep by Stephen King, which is the sequel to The Shining. I know, right?! I love Stephen King. I’ve loved his books since I was 9 years old. Yes, that’s right, I was nine when I read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. It is still one of my favorite books. His vivid descriptions have always fascinated me. His stories that explore the morbid, the terrifying, the macabre are very intriguing to me. My mind doesn’t think like Stephen King’s does, and that’s why his books draw me in time and time again. (And Queen of my Heart) By Alyssa Miles Blair Waldorf is the most perfect human that has ever graced (the earth) TV. Through six seasons of the best show ever (Gossip Girl ), we got to learn from her charming grace, perfect poise, and matchless wardrobe. Want to throw an amazing party while maintaining your power as queen of the world (or, you know, high school)? Beyotch, you can't even come close. Luckily Blair has bestowed her wisdom to the masses.
