The Role of Fiber Content By Elizabeth Giaritelli What’s the first thing you do when you see a cute dress in a store? Look at the price tag, of course. If the price matches the budget, then you are the next person in line! How easy. What happens in a few weeks when that beloved top stretches out and never goes back to its original shape? How about when you start to see those little balls of fabric all over your shirt? (That’s called pilling, by the way.) What about when that vibrant color wears off on other clothing or even your skin? My real question is: What if we are missing something so critical during our buying process? When buying a garment, there is not much information provided on the care label about its properties (e.g., garment durability). This is a great time to use the sales team and ask them questions. However practically speaking, you won’t always have an equipped or available sales team, especially if you find yourself in thrift stores like me. Therefore it’s wise to instill in yourself some basic knowledge on the matter before you pull the trigger on a garment you may later regret.

By Elizabeth Giaritelli Here are some outfit ideas to inspire your New Years Eve day and night style. Cheers to 2o15! I'm certainly ready, are you?
Meet Seline! Name: Seline Jung Location: Seoul, South Korea Occupation: Recent college grad currently working as post-production assistant for "Seoul Searching" the movie How would you describe your style? Multipolar. I don't have a set aesthetic and change my look every single day depending on how I physically and mentally feel each morning. Who or what influences your style? Mostly girls and dudes I observe and see on the street. Nothing looks cooler than when it's worn on the street or seen in action. Favorite designers: Alexander Wang, Acne Studios, Opening Ceremony, Saint Laurent (look but can't touch...sigh). By Cassandra Ernst It’s that time of year again . . . but whether you prefer to spend your Holiday season sitting with your family, drinking hot cocoa or being out with your friends with something a little harder (am I the only person obsessed with cinnamon-infused bourbon?), we can help you find the perfect Holiday style.
Meet Taylor! Name: Taylor Lamoureux Location: Miami, Florida Occupation: Sales at Emilio Pucci How would you describe your style? Trendy, comfortable, edgy with a girly twist. Who or what influences your style? Kylie Jenner, Natasha Oakley, Rumi Neely, Chiara Ferragni, Meagan Camper, Vanessa Hudgens, Mandana Dayani, Rachel Zoe Favorite designers: Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Givenchy, Alice & Olivia, Marc Jacobs Favorite place to shop on a budget: Urban Outfitters What is your one "can't live without" fashion item? Leather jacket with chunky hardware By Elizabeth Giaritelli Oh, the holidays. My favorite time of year... hot coco by a crackling fire, The Carpenters on repeat as the smell of cookies fill the house, glistening lights reflected in ornaments from childhood, a heartfelt Hallmark movie playing while wrapped in blankets... and oh yes, picking out the best gifts for those wonderful people in your life. Girlfriends aren't so difficult, they are our own kind after all. You have a good enough idea by now of what mom and dad do and don't like. How about the men in your life? Whether it's a husband, boyfriend, guy friend, or brother, Christmas is the time to show your love for anyone you consider special in your life. Odds are there is a man in there somewhere! In recent years I've enjoyed gifting for men so much more than women. If you're good at it, they seem to appreciate it SO. MUCH. MORE. Most men--not all- can use some help when it comes to styling themselves and their homes and open their arms to any assistance. This is the perfect time of year to help them out. I've compiled a list of home and apparel items, of which I've had checked twice (yes, that was a pun). Whether you buy directly from these links or simply use it as some creative inspiration, I hope it helps your holiday season. Cheers! Meet Amanda! Name: Amanda Day Location: Los Angeles, CA Occupation: Fashion Stylist How would you describe your style? Androgynous, edgy, minimalist Who or what influences your style? The Olsen's and Bianca Jagger, a lot of bands from the 60's and 70's, street style, and whatever mood I'm in. Favorite Designers: Yohji Yamamoto is by far my favorite! Saint Laurent, The Olsen's line The Row, and Vivienne Westwood. By Elizabeth Giaritelli Hey beautiful ladies!
As you (hopefully) get to know me better in these coming posts, you'll realize that I like to get my moneys worth out of an article of clothing. Those "year-round" pieces are my favorite. But what about the other items in our closets? For example, what do you do with that stunning maxi dress you pulled the trigger on in the Spring? Do you already have to throw it in a suitcase mentally labeled "summer" under your bed?! My goal with this post is to show you three different ways to transition that gorgeous frock into the colder months. By Christie Gleason Some girls have it all figured out, at least when it comes to fashion. I always wonder about those girls- the ones that have perfected their "look" and somehow have a wardrobe that goes accordingly. Whether they're the masters of the "off duty model" look or are bohemian hippie chicks, I envy their streamlined wardrobes that just seem to scream, "Yep, I know myself and my style. Look at my closet full of things that perfectly represent ME!" Why am I jealous, you ask? Because my style is a hot damn mess. |
